Ordering from Spirit of Harmony

    Marilyn Power Scott, composer of the Spirit of Harmony songs and rounds, has had a lifelong devotion to music, especially choral music. It has taken many forms, from formal academic studies and ensemble performance to composing and informal singing with friends. The rounds began emerging in 2000; the part songs started showing up in 2006.

    Gesundheit Publishing, at 516 Alan Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93109, has published both Spirit of Harmony song book and CD. Scott is its animating presence.

    The Santa Barbara Sing for Your Supper Rounds Group is an informal group of women who have sung rounds and eaten supper together weekly since 1994. Membership is by invitation and its size is limited by how many can fit around the smallest dinner table of the group.

    The all-women Threshold Choir, directed and founded by Kate Munger of Inverness, CA, honors the ancient tradition of singing at the bedsides of people who are struggling: some with living, some with dying. There are now more than 60 choirs across the country, three in Canada, and one forming in Australia, with more coalescing all the time. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
